Valerian root has been used as a sleep aid for over 1,000 years. Its ability to help relax the central nervous system, promote feelings of calm, decrease levels of anxiety and stress, and enhance sleep are known to millions the world over. Unlike some prescription sleep aids, valerian is not known to cause morning grogginess and is non-addictive.
Lobelia can be found in the dry regions of the northern United States, Canada, and eastern Siberia. The primary constituent, Alpha lobeline, exhibits effects on the peripheral circulation, neuromuscular system, and central nervous system. People have used lobelia for asthma, bronchitis, cough, to in induce sweating and as a sedative. Lobelia is often found in smoking cessation products. Passion Flower is known to be a CNS depressant and it has been used traditionally in cases of diarrhea and dysentery, neuralgia, sleeplessness and dysmenorrhea.
Ginger has been used in China to aid digestion and treat stomach upset, diarrhea, and nausea for more than 2,000 years. Since ancient times, ginger has also been used to help treat arthritis, colic, diarrhea, and heart conditions. In addition to these medicinal uses, ginger continues to be valued around the world as an important cooking spice and is believed to help the common cold, flu-like symptoms, headaches, and even painful menstrual periods.
Hops have tonic, nervine, diuretic and anodyne properties. It has proved of great service also in heart disease, fits, neuralgia and nervous disorders, besides being a useful tonic in indigestion, jaundice, and stomach and liver affections generally.
Catnip has long been used for indigestion, flatulence and colic. It is mildly astringent, and helpful for diarrhea. Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, (Dosage for 150lb. or more person) 2 droppersful, as needed. Take in-between meals. May mix with 1 or 2oz. of water or juice. Maximum of 5 times a day. Or as directed by your health care professional.
